Few athletes elicit such an enthusiastic response from classmates as Geza Molnar. Judged in his playing days to be of Olympic caliber in soccer, Molnar was elected to the 1946 All-America soccer team by the Intercollegiate Soccer Coaches Association. He is the only known Lehigh player to have been so honored. His honors also include being named to the Intercollegiate Soccer Football Association of America First Team Southern All-Star Squad. He was also captain of the 1946 soccer squad.

Molnar also excelled in baseball as he was an outstanding shortstop in 1946 and 1947. In 1947, he was elected captain of the baseball team and presented with the Nannie Lamberton Wilbur baseball cup.

Molnar also excelled academically as he was elected in 1946 to Lehigh’s Alpha-Alpha Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta for “conspicuous attainments and scholarship” in the field of history. In 1947, he was elected to Cyanide: Lehigh's Leadership Honor Society of the junior class.

Molnar was an accomplished poet having published “Shortstop” in 1988. After graduating from Lehigh, he attended law school at Georgetown and began practicing in Maryland where he was a member of the Montgomery County and District of Columbia Bar Associations.

“It's an honor for me, my teammates and coaches,” Molnar said. “I never thought this would happen. When I played we were coming back from World War II and striving for a diploma. Athletics was something I did for enjoyment. It feels great to be recognized now for my athletic accomplishments.”
