Jason Moorehead is in his third season as the Head Men’s Club Varsity Coach at Lehigh. Previously, Moorehead served as the Freshman Men’s Coach (’01-03, ’06-07) as well as an Assistant Varsity Coach (’04-05) at Lehigh. In 2008-09 Moorehead saw his men’s varsity 8 crew win the petite final at the Murphy Cup and Knecht Cup, earn a pair of first place finishes at the Occoquan Sprints, defeat archrival Lafayette in the annual River Cup, race in the petite final at the Dad Vail Regatta and finish fifth in America at the ACRA National Championship. Lehigh’s second varsity 8 crew also won the petite final at the Knecht Cup. In addition, Moorehead mentored Joe Loguidice ’09 and current team member Eric Harper who garnered All-America and All-Region honors from the American Collegiate Rowing Association.
During the 2007-08 season, Moorehead led the Mountain Hawk men to new heights, as they completed one of the most successful seasons in the program’s history. Among Lehigh’s many accomplishments were: competing in the Grand Final of the Dad Vail Regatta for the first time in school history, once again defeating archrival Lafayette in the annual River Cup, finishing just two-tenths of a second out of third place in the Grand Finals at the Knecht Cup (best Lehigh finish ever), qualifying for the Grand Finals at the San Diego Crew Classic, reaching the petite final at the Murphy Cup and qualifying crews for the Grand Final (varsity pair) and Petite Final (varsity four) at the IRA Regatta. For his efforts, Moorehead was honored as the 2008 American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year.
During his time at Lehigh, Moorehead has also mentored the 2004 Patriot League Championship Varsity 4 boat along with the 2006 Novice Men’s 8 Patriot League Championship boat.
