Tim McGorry enters his second season as Lehigh’s wide receivers coach. A veteran with more than a decade of experience coaching in the Lehigh Valley at both the college and high school levels, McGorry was hired in the spring of 2017.

In his first season, McGorry worked with a wide receiver group led by veterans Troy Pelletier and Gatlin Casey. Pelletier set several Lehigh and Patriot League career records on the way to becoming a two-time All-American and four-time All-Patriot League season, while Casey battled through injuries to gain 854 receiving yards and lead the Mountain Hawks with 12 receiving touchdowns. McGorry also oversaw the development of Lehigh’s slot receivers, with junior Luke Christiano opening the season with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games before going down with a season-ending injury and freshman Jorge Portorreal stepping up with 56 receptions for 729 yards, ranking third on the Mountain Hawks in both categories.

McGorry came to Lehigh after spending four seasons as the offensive coordinator at nearby Moravian College. He helped coach the team to its second best record in school history in 2015. McGorry helped the Greyhounds offense break 26 school records, including Moravian’s all-time leading rusher, passer and receiver.

McGorry holds plenty of experience coaching in the Lehigh Valley, serving as an offensive coordinator at both Parkland High School and Allentown Central Catholic High School before returning to Moravian. He was also the Greyhounds’ linebackers coach in 2007 and quarterbacks coach in 2008.

“(McGorry) is somebody who’s really close to the Lehigh Valley, and he’s done a great job wherever he’s been,” Coen said. “He spent a lot of time in the high school ranks in the Lehigh Valley, then moved up to Moravian and helped turn Moravian around, making them a factor in the Centennial Conference. His offense is very close to the style of offense that we run here, and that’s why he was a very good fit for us.”

McGorry owns a BA in organizational management with a concentration in education from Ashford University.
