BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh football officially welcomed its newest teammate earlier this month, signing 10-year-old Jeremiah Kennedy through Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit organization that connects children facing serious illness or disability with college athletic teams.
Â
A native of Blue Bell, Pa., Jeremiah joins the Mountain Hawks while living with Sickle Cell Disease and ADHD. Through Team IMPACT's program, he will become an official member of the Lehigh football family, participating in team activities, building meaningful relationships with student-athletes, and creating lasting memories alongside his new teammates.
Â
"We are thrilled to be a part of Team IMPACT and are so excited to have Jeremiah and his family be a part of our Lehigh Football Family! Go Mountain Hawks!" said Vandergrift Family Head Coach Rich Nagy.
Â
Jeremiah is known for his caring personality, boundless energy, and love of staying active. His favorite hobbies include playing video games, learning about dragons, and spending time outdoors riding his scooter or bike. A passionate sports fan, he especially enjoys football and golf.
Â
Prior to his official signing, Jeremiah had already begun building connections with the Mountain Hawks. He attended Lehigh's Brown and White Spring Game, participated in team lifts, and spent time getting to know the players. The relationship has quickly become a two-way bond, with several team members even attending Jeremiah's 10th birthday celebration in June.
Â
The signing ceremony was attended by Jeremiah's parents, Monique and John Kennedy, as well as his sisters, Serenity and Camille. The moment held special significance for the family, as Jeremiah's father, John Kennedy '11, is a former Lehigh football student-athlete.
Â
Now officially a Mountain Hawk, Jeremiah looks forward to cheering on his teammates, participating in team events, and creating unforgettable experiences throughout the season.
