Josh Perich is set to begin his third season as an assistant coach with the Mountain Hawks. The former professional player made quite an impact in his first two seasons at Lehigh, helping the Mountain Hawks to a Patriot League best .308 team batting average in 2005 and a league-best 100 doubles during the 2004 season.
Perich was drafted by the New York Mets, in the 11th round, after his senior year of high school in 1998. From there, he continued on to their Class A minor league affiliate in the Gulf Coast League. During his tenure with the team, his club won a league title, while he recorded a season high average of .272. In the A-ball fall invitational league, he netted a .375 batting average.
A graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, Perich was a four-year starter and was voted first-team all-league two years in a row. As a junior, he hit .500, slugged seven homeruns and didn’t strikeout once. As a senior, he banged out a .525 average and stroked 11 homers. He was also voted
Perich is currently playing in Tri-county league and was voted as an all-star during his first season. He resides in Slatington, Pa.
