Lehigh Competes At Lake Wheeler Invite In N.C.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Lehigh women's rowing traveled south to compete at the Lake Wheeler Invite in North Carolina on Friday and Saturday. The Mountain Hawks competed in first and second varsity eight as well as first and second varsity four races throughout the weekend.
"Solid step for the team," said Steven J. '69 & Karen A. Lee head coach Peter Costas. "Well managed pieces through the weekend across each boat. Strong competition at home traveled well for us this weekend. Looking forward to the final two races of the season."
Lehigh's first competition of the weekend was on Friday morning in the second varsity four heat two race. The Mountain Hawks finished seventh out of seven boats with a time of 8:01.45. Next up was the first varsity four who finished sixth of seven boats at 7:59.55 in their opening heat.
The second varsity eight took fifth of seven boats in their opening heat, crossing the finish line in 7:01.15. Lehigh's first varsity eight clocked in at 6:58.92 to claim seventh in their first race of the weekend.
The second varsity four's second race on Friday saw the Mountain Hawks finish sixth of seven boats with a time of 8:07.83. The Mountain Hawks took fifth of seven boats in the first varsity four's next race with a finish of 7:59.57. The final two races of the day on Friday for Lehigh saw the second varsity eight finish fifth at 7:05.32 and the first varsity eight finish sixth at 7:06.43.
The second varsity four ended their weekend on Saturday morning with a seventh-place finish at 7:57.27. The final race for the first varsity four saw the Mountain Hawks take sixth at 7:54.54. The second varsity eight took fifth at 6:59.15 in their final race while the first varsity eight concluded the weekend for Lehigh with a seventh-place finish at 7:02.59.
The Mountain Hawks are back in action on Saturday, May 2 on the road against Colgate.
