PHILADELPHIA – In its final tune-up before the start of Patriot League play, Lehigh shut out Penn 6-0 Wednesday at Penn Park. First-years Maddie Masiko and Addison Moorman and sophomore Madison Finnerty combined to scatter seven hits as the Mountain Hawks posted their second shutout of the season.

Lehigh improves to 15-11 with the victory.

First-year Megan Lodge opened the scoring with a first-inning sacrifice fly that plated junior Peyton Sward.

Lehigh added two more runs in the third on an RBI single by senior Abbey Tabaka and a Quaker error that allowed sophomore Lizzie Kern to score.

The Mountain Hawks doubled their lead in the sixth on an RBI single by sophomore Kelly Fricker, followed by a two-run Sward double off the glove of the Penn third baseman.

Lehigh finished with 12 hits, with Fricker, Sward, Tabaka, first-year Kyra Neiswender and sophomore Helen Woloshyn all recording two.

Masiko allowed two hits over three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Finnerty fllowed with two scoreless, allowing two hits, while Moorman closed out the game with two scoreless frames allowing three hits.

The Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play and their home schedule this weekend when they host Colgate for a three-game series. Lehigh and Colgate will play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday with action both days beginning at noon.
