ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lehigh women's tennis kicked off its fall schedule this past weekend from the Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational at the U.S. Naval Academy. The Mountain Hawks competed in singles and doubles competition from Friday, September 5 to Sunday, September 7.

"This weekend was great way to kick off our season," said head coach Sophia Geier. "Everyone got the chance to play a lot of matches against strong competition in a fun environment with so many good teams. We know there's plenty of work ahead of us, but I was proud of the spirit and positive attitude our team showed throughout the weekend."

The tournament was structured in various doubles and singles flights ranked from A (highest) to E (lowest). Doubles competition was single elimination while there was a consolation bracket for singles matches.

In flight A doubles, the teams of Maggie Forkner/Lena Dogadalski and Hannah Letzer/Ronit Khromchenko represented the Mountain Hawks. Forkner and Dogadalski received a first-round bye and defeated Cenan Liu and Mary Young of George Mason 6-1 in the quarterfinals before falling 6-4 in the semifinals. Letzer and Khromchenko dropped a 6-1 result in the first round.

Giselle Vlassis and Bella Peters teamed up for Lehigh in flight B doubles, falling 6-1 in the first round. In flight C doubles, the team of Audrey Harrington and Skye Yonehara won 6-3 in the quarterfinals and a 7-6 (7-2) tiebreaker in the semifinals before falling 6-4 in the finals. First-year Alice Ann Pantsari was paired with Saint Bonaventure's Gabriella Blumberg in flight C, falling 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

Forkner and Dogadalski competed in flight A singles for the Mountain Hawks. Forkner lost her quarterfinal matchup 6-4, 6-1 while Dogadalski fell 6-2, 3-6 (10-6) in the first round. The two teammates would then meet in the consolation finals, resulting in a 6-3, 6-1 win for Dogadalski.

Khromchenko and Vlassis represented Lehigh in flight B singles. Khromchenko won her first two matches before falling to Navy's Sydney Fuger in the semifinals. Vlassis also reached the semifinals before falling in two sets to Navy's Olivia Fermo. In flight C, Letzer and Pantsari fell in their opening rounds, sending both the consolation bracket. Letzer won her first match before dropping a 6-2, 6-1 result in the consolation quarterfinals. Pantsari advanced all the way to the consolation finals, falling in two sets to Navy's Nicole Fu.

Yonehara and Harrington played in flight D singles for the Mountain Hawks, both winning their first-round matches before falling in the quarterfinals. Peters was Lehigh's lone participant in flight E singles, dropping both her quarterfinal and consolation semifinal matches.

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 13 to Sunday, September 14 for the Lehigh Hidden Duals from the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts on Lehigh's Goodman Campus.
