BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Rising Lehigh sophomore Audrey Jimenez will wrestle for a spot on the U.S. Senior World Team Saturday as USA Wrestling hosts Final X at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Jimenez will wrestle Erin Golston in a best-of-three series Saturday for the right to represent the United States at 50 kg at the UWW World Championships, Sept. 13-21 in Zagreb, Croatia.
Â
Jimenez, the 2024 Olympic alternate at 50 kg, earned her spot at Final X by winning the U.S. Open in late April in Las Vegas. She also won her weight class at the U.S. Women's Nationals in Spokane, Wash., in early April, earning a spot on the U20 World Team. Jimenez also won the 50 kg title at the senior Pan-Am Championship in Monterrey, Mexico in May.
Â
Last month women's wrestling was announced as Lehigh's 26th varsity sport, with competition set to begin during the 2025-26 season, culminating with the inaugural NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship.
Â
In addition to Jimenez' success, two of her future Lehigh teammates, Abbi Cooper and Aubre Krazer, will compete at the U20 World Championships this summer.
Â
Saturday's Final X will feature two sessions of wrestling action with two mats of competition at Prudential Center. Session I begins at 12:30 p.m. and will feature 11 true third place matches (five men's and six women's) to determine the third spots on the U.S. National Teams.
Â
The first matches in the best-of-three series begin at 2 p.m. There will be nine contested series in both men's and women's freestyle. The women's 50 kg series between Jimenez and Golston will be seventh in the order of matches. Session II, featuring round two and the if-necessary third round, will begin at 5 p.m.
Â
FloWrestling will provide streaming video of Final X, while brackets and results will be available at USA Bracketing.
Â
Jimenez is already a three-time Senior National Team member and is a four-time World Medalist at various age groups. Her opponent Golston is also a multi-time National Team member and a junior World Medalist. Golston won the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament to earn the right to face Jimenez at Final X.
Â
At the Senior level, Jimenez owns a 3-0 edge in the series against Golston, dating back to the 2023 U.S. Open semifinals. Jimenez won the most recent meeting 11-0 in the finals of the U.S. Open in April.
