Kolodziej Garners PL Rookie of the Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year Emily Kolodziej was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for women's outdoor track and field it was announced Tuesday. Kolodziej won the discus and finished third in the shot put Saturday to claim her first career weekly award.

On Saturday, Kolodziej posted a mark of 45.40m in the discus, setting a new PR and moving into a tie for fourth place all-time at Lehigh. The mark ranks seventh in the Patriot League during the outdoor season and first among first-year throwers. Kolodziej also threw the shot put 12.42m in her third place finish.

The victory in the discus was the second of the season for the Branchburg, N.J. native. Kolodziej also won the discus at Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational on Apr. 18.

Also on Tuesday, junior Grace Kennedy received honorable mention recognition after running a 1:00.00 400m hurdles at the prestigious Penn Relays, Thursday in Philadelphia. The time established a new PR and improved upon Kennedy' second all-time mark at Lehigh.

The Mountain Hawks are preparing for the Patriot League Championships, Friday-Saturday in Worcester, Mass.
