Lehigh's Season Ends with Semifinal Loss to Army

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Fourth-seeded Lehigh women's tennis fell 4-0 to top-seeded Army in the Patriot League semifinals Saturday morning at Colgate. The Mountain Hawks conclude their season with an overall record of 12-8.

The Black Knights jumped out to an early lead by securing the doubles point. Army claimed victories in the first two doubles matches, while Lehigh's top pair, Maggie Forkner and Hannah Letzter, trailed 6-5 at the No. 1 spot when the point was clinched.

In singles play, Army captured wins in the first three matches to secure the overall victory and a spot in the Patriot League Championship, where the Black Knights will face the winner of Boston University and Navy.

Lehigh's Alina Shyani was the only Mountain Hawk to win a set on the day. Competing at No. 3 singles, she took the first set 6-3 and was trailing 5-4 in the second before Army's Jenna Sabile clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.
