BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior Sheldon Seymour has been named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, it was announced Wednesday.

The individual Scholar All-America awards have qualifying standards based on grade point average and season record and accomplishments. The system for the NWCA's academic awards includes grade point averages for wrestlers that competed in their NCAA Championship conference qualifier, plus select others that competed in at least one varsity dual during the season.

Seymour qualified for the team as an All-American for his performance at last month's NCAA Championships, along with his 3.34 GPA as a management major.

The Troy, Pa., product enjoyed an outstanding junior campaign for the Mountain Hawks, going 22-6 at 125. Seymour was one of four individual champions as Lehigh captured its 39th EIWA team title a Stabler Arena, March 7-8. At the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, Seymour reached the national semifinals at 125 and won his first All-America medal with a sixth-place finish.

Seymour owns a 51-26 career record for the Mountain Hawks. This was Seymour's second year competing in the postseason. He finished sixth while earning an EIWA Academic Achievement Award in 2022.

With Seymour's recognition, Lehigh wrestlers have now totaled 28 Scholar All-America awards over the last seven seasons.

The 2024-25 Lehigh wrestling season is presented by the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
