Whitlinger Named Patriot League Player Of The Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior centerfielder Jake Whitlinger was named the Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Whitlinger's selection is Lehigh's first weekly award win of the season.
Over four games, Whitlinger batted .500 (9-18) with eight RBIs, two home runs, two doubles and three stolen bases in a 3-1 week for Lehigh. Whitlinger kicked off his week against Albright (3/4), where he went 2-4 with a double, an RBI, four runs scored, three stolen bases and two walks in a 20-5 win. He followed that up with a massive performance in game one of a weekend series with UMBC (3/7), going 4-5 with six RBIs, two home runs and three runs scored in a 13-3 win. Whitlinger concluded the series going 1-4 on Saturday (3/8) and 2-5 on Sunday (3/9).
Lehigh defeated Albright 20-5 on March 4 before heading south for a three-game weekend series against UMBC. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Retrievers 13-3 in eight innings on Friday, fell 6-4 on Saturday and won 6-2 on Sunday to win the series.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Tuesday, March 11 at 3 p.m. to take on Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia.
