Lehigh Welcomes Boston University For Box Out Cancer
2/24/2025 4:05:00 PM | Men's Basketball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball prepares for its final regular season home game of the season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to host the Boston University Terriers. The game's theme is Box Out Cancer, presented by the Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group Red Robin, in partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Boston U. (14-15, 8-8 PL) is the least common opponent of Lehigh's (10-17, 5-11) out of all Patriot League schools, as the Terriers joined the league in 2013-14. The Terriers own a 16-10 advantage in the all-time series, including a 15-10 mark since joining the league. Boston U. has won seven of the last ten meetings against Lehigh, including a 63-58 win in Boston earlier this season.
If Lehigh wins, they would earn their eleventh win of the season and split the season series against Boston U. Head coach Dr. Brett Reed's all-time record against the Leopards would improve to 11-15.
This season's second installment of The Rivalry took place Saturday evening between Lehigh men's basketball and the Lafayette Leopards at the Kirby Sports Center in Easton. The game was competitive the whole way through, but ultimately the Leopards came away with a 78-70 wire-to-wire victory. Four Mountain Hawks scored in double-figures, led by Tyler Whitney-Sidney and Hank Alvey with 14 apiece. Joshua Ingram and Nasir Whitlock also scored in double-figures with 13 points each. Lehigh and Lafayette were identical from the field, as both teams shot 45.6% (26-57). The Mountain Hawks shot 50.0% (9-18) from three while the Leopards shot 30.4% (7-23). The Leopards went a perfect 19-19 from the free throw line while the Mountain Hawks went 69.2% (9-13) from the charity stripe.
Boston U. enters Wednesday's contest in sixth place in the Patriot League standings with an 8-8 record. The Terriers have clinched a top-six seed, which prevents them from playing in the Patriot League First Round next week. Sophomore Kyrone Alexander leads the Terriers offensively at 12.6 points per game while Michael McNair (10.5 ppg) and Miles Brewster (10.1 ppg) also average double-figures for BU. Last season, the Terriers fell to Lehigh 84-79 in overtime in the Patriot League semifinals.
Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks conclude the regular season on the road at Army West Point on Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be listened to on Fox Sports 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
