
Early Lead Propels Lehigh to 75-61 Win Versus Lafayette, 12th Consecutive Win

EASTON, Pa. – Lehigh women's basketball defeated Lafayette 75-61 on Saturday afternoon at the Kirby Sports Center, extending its winning streak to 12 games and completing the season series sweep over the Leopards. The Mountain Hawks improved to 23-4 (14-1 PL), while Lafayette fell to 7-19 (4-11).
Senior guard Ella Stemmer led the way for Lehigh, scoring a team-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. She was one of four Mountain Hawks to score in double figures, with Maddie Albrecht (15 points), Lily Fandre (13 points) and Colleen McQuillen (12 points) also contributing significantly.
Albrecht was a standout on both ends of the floor, posting a game-high seven assists, seven rebounds, and three steals.
Lehigh never trailed in the game. Stemmer opened the scoring with a three-pointer, and while Lafayette briefly answered with a three of its own, the Mountain Hawks quickly took control after senior forward Meghan O'Brien went on a personal 4-0 run. Lehigh finished the first quarter with a 21-17 lead.
The Mountain Hawks came out strong in the second quarter, starting with an 8-0 run in the first three minutes to push their lead into double digits. Lafayette cut Lehigh's lead to single digits on a couple of occasions, but fifth-year senior wing [player's name] sank a pair of free throws with 3:36 remaining in the first half, giving the Mountain Hawks a 10-point advantage. Lehigh maintained this double-digit lead for the rest of the game.
A late 13-2 run in the final three minutes of the second quarter gave Lehigh a commanding 45-26 lead at halftime.
While Lafayette won the next two quarters, Lehigh's strong first half was more than enough to secure the victory.
Lehigh shot 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the field and 11-of-25 (44%) from three-point range. Lafayette, meanwhile, shot 23-of-50 (46%) from the field and 10-of-23 (43.5%) from beyond the arc.
Lehigh also dominated on the boards, finishing with a 34-24 rebounding advantage, including nine offensive rebounds. First-year guard Belle Bramer contributed six rebounds and six points.
Lafayette was led by Teresa Kiewet, who scored a game-high 26 points.
Next up, the Mountain Hawks will travel north to take on Boston University on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
