BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball rolled to its seventh straight victory Saturday on National Girls and Women in Sports Day/Pink out Game, presented by Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, downing Holy Cross 60-47 at Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks moved to 18-4 (9-1 PL) and Holy Cross dropped to 14-7 (7-3 PL).Â
Lehigh's seven-game winning streak marks its longest since the 2014-15 season.Â
Fifth-year wing Maddie Albrecht led the way for the second straight game, scoring a game-high of 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. She also dished out a game-high of four assists.
"Maddie Albrecht is good at basketball," said head coach Addie Micir. "And what I love is she does it in her way. She's been great. We understand who's hot, and we understand where we can put Maddie in great spots to score and along with everybody else. She's the most likeable person on the planet."
Senior guard Ella Stemmer (12 points) also joined Albrecht in double figures.Â
The Mountain Hawks opened the game on a 10-0 run and would hold onto the lead the remainder of the game on Saturday. At the end of the first quarter, the Mountain Hawks led 15-5 after holding Holy Cross to just two made field goals.Â
"I saw a lot of activity on the defensive end," Micir said. "We talk about moving as one a lot and that was one of the keys to the game, we wanted to move as one. Anytime they got an angle, they ran into a Lehigh girl. I thought we did a really nice job early and we like to wear people out."
The Mountain Hawks outscored Holy Cross 19-12 in the second quarter to take a 34-17 lead at halftime.Â
Albrecht converted a layup with 5:01 left in the third quarter to put Lehigh up by 20 points, its largest lead of the game. The Crusaders went on a 10-2 run to end the quarter to cut Lehigh's lead to 12.
Holy Cross cut Lehigh's lead to nine points with 4:04 remaining in the game, but the Mountain Hawks went on a 6-0 run to help secure the win.Â
Junior forward Lily Fandre and Colleen McQuillen both finished with eight points apiece. McQuillen also dished out three assists.
The Mountain Hawks shot 23-of-52 (44.2%) from the field and 4-of-21 from downtown (19%). The Crusaders shot 18-of-59 (30.5%) and 6-of-22 (27.3%) from deep.
Mary-Elizabeth Donnely netted a team-high of 13 points for Holy Cross.Â
Next up, Lehigh will travel to Washington, D.C. to face American on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. Saturday's game will air on ESPN+.Â
