Lehigh Battles Holy Cross in NGWSD/Pink out Game

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding a six-game winning streak, Lehigh women's basketball returns home to Stabler Arena on Saturday against Holy Cross at 5 p.m. in the Mountain Hawks National Girls and Women in Sports Day/Pink Out Game. Lehigh is 17-4 (8-1 PL) and Holy Cross is 14-6 (7-2 PL).

Lehigh took down Navy 87-66 in its most recent game on Jan. 29. Tied at 46 at the half, Lehigh outscored the Midshipmen 40-21 in the second half. The Mountain Hawks defense stood strong in the fourth quarter, holding Navy to just six points.

Fifth-year senior wing Maddie Albrecht had a fantastic performance against the Midshipmen, scoring a career-high 31 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 shooting from long range. 

Albrecht is fourth in the Patriot League in scoring with 15.7 points per game. The Billings, Mont., native is also first in the league in field goal percentage (52%). 

Senior guard Ella Stemmer (15 points) and junior forward Lily Fandre (10 points) also joined Albrecht in double figures. 

Lehigh shot 29-of-56 (51.8%) from the field and 8-of-21 (38.1%) from long range. The Mountain Hawks tallied 12 assists with senior guard Colleen McQuillen dishing out a game-high of five assists. 

Holy Cross, the defending Patriot League champion, was on a five-game winning streak before falling 52-49 to Boston University on Jan. 27. Mary Elizabeth Donnely recorded a game-high of 14 points. 

Simone Forman, who has not played since Jan. 8 averages a team-high 16.1 points per game. Foreman is one of three players averaging double figures. Lindsay Berger is next with 11 points per game, Kaitlyn Flanagan is third in scoring with 10.9 points per game and Meg Cahalan is fourth with 10.2 points per game. 

Lehigh is 31-50 all-time against Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks split the season series with the Crusaders last season. Last time Lehigh played Holy Cross, the Mountain Hawks pulled out a 70-60 victory on Jan. 27, 2024. 

Next up, Lehigh will have a midweek bye before taking on American in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 8.
