Lehigh Travels To Face Army West Point And Holy Cross In Weekend Doubleheaders

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The final weekend of the Patriot League regular season is upon us, and Lehigh baseball is still alive in the race for the postseason. The Mountain Hawks will travel to West Point for a doubleheader against Army on Saturday followed by another road doubleheader at Holy Cross on Sunday to conclude the regular season.

Lehigh (22-21-1, 7-14 PL) welcomed the Wagner Seahawks to Bethlehem on Wednesday in the team's final game of the season from J. David Walker Field. The Mountain Hawks picked up an 11-4 win, finding contributions across the lineup from first-years, seniors, and a deep rotation on the mound. Jack Ingino earned his first career win, closing out the final three innings with four strikeouts, no runs and no hits allowed. Tyler Young, Trystan Crawford, Andrew Nole and Raffaele Rogers all recorded multiple hits in the win, including a 3-5 day from Rogers.

Army West Point (25-19, 14-7 PL) earned the 3-2 season series win over Navy on Sunday in dramatic fashion, as Chris Barr walked-off the Midshipmen with a two-out base hit in the bottom of the ninth to win 7-6. However, the Black Knights fell in their most recent outing, that being a 3-2 loss to LIU on Tuesday. Army West Point has already clinched a spot in the Patriot League tournament, but they can lock up the number one seed with any win this weekend. The Black Knights will host Lehigh before hosting Lafayette for a doubleheader on Sunday.

Holy Cross (22-24, 11-10 PL) is still fighting for their right to play in the postseason after picking up a 2-1 series win over Lehigh last weekend. The Crusaders then extended their win streak to three on Tuesday with a 6-5 win against Brown. Holy Cross can clinch a spot in the tournament with one win over Lafayette in their Saturday doubleheader. In the event that doesn't happen, a sweep of Lehigh on Sunday can still qualify them for the postseason.

Lehigh's path to the tournament consists of several factors, the first of which is to go 4-0 this weekend. The Mountain Hawks would then need Lafayette to sweep Holy Cross on Saturday and then get swept by Army West Point on Sunday. If those things happen, Lehigh would finish the season as the fourth seed in the Patriot League tournament.
