Pontoriero Earns Academic All-Patriot League Distinction

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's rowing junior Gabriella Pontoriero has been named to 2024 Academic All-Patriot League women's rowing team, as announced by the league on Thursday morning.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League teams are voted on by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. First-years or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Pontoriero has posted a 3.91 cumulative GPA in architecture throughout her time in Bethlehem. She has made the Patriot League Honor Roll twice and posted a 4.0 GPA in fall of 2023. In addition, she is a five-time Faculty Athletics Council Award winner (above 3.2 GPA) and five-time Deans List selection (above 3.6 GPA).
During the 2024 campaign, Pontoriero was an important contributor to the first varsity eight in the two seat all season long. She was named team MVP and helped guide Lehigh to a Patriot League Boat of the Week on April 10. The first varsity eight also found wins over Fairfield, Iona, Loyola (Md.) and Bucknell this past year.
