Lehigh Prepares For Liberty Bell Classic Semifinal Against Rider

4/8/2024 5:06:00 PM | Baseball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball's path to Citizens Bank Park continues on Tuesday for round two of the Liberty Bell Classic. The Mountain Hawks will travel to take on the Rider Broncs for a chance to play in the final at the Philadelphia Phillies' MLB ballpark.

Lehigh (18-12-1, 5-6 PL) played two home doubleheaders this past weekend against the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday and the Bucknell Bison on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks dropped both games to Navy while picking up two wins over the Bison, riding excellent play from the bullpen to two close victories. Lehigh currently sits in fourth place in the league, which would qualify them for the postseason.

Rider (12-14) had a slow start to the season, dropping their first six games on route to a 2-14 record. However, the Broncs are now riding a ten-game win streak, which has included MAAC conference sweeps of Quinnipiac, Saint Peter's and Siena. Rider advanced to the second round of the Liberty Bell Classic by defeating Villanova 9-7 at home on March 26. The Broncs are looking to defend their Liberty Bell Classic crown, as Rider defeated Delaware 8-3 in last year's final.

The winner of Tuesday's game will face the winner of Lafayette and Delaware in the Liberty Bell Classic Final at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 10 at 4 p.m. Like Lehigh Baseball on Facebook, follow on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram for exclusive content, team updates and more.
