Rivalry Game Vs. Lafayette Shifted To 12 p.m. On Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Rivalry presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute returns to J. David Walker Field on Wednesday as Lehigh baseball welcomes the Lafayette Leopards to Bethlehem in a season series-deciding midweek clash. The game will be the fifth between the two teams this season and carries significance in regards to seeding for the postseason.
Lehigh (19-15-1, 6-8 PL) enters Wednesday's game in need of another Patriot League win. The Mountain Hawks dropped two of three games against fifth place Bucknell over the weekend, and now sit only one game ahead of Lafayette and the Bison in the fourth and final spot in the Patriot League tournament. Lehigh and Lafayette have faced off four times this season, splitting doubleheaders on March 22 and March 24 to set the season series at 2-2.
Before Lafayette (10-26, 5-9 PL) heads to Bethlehem on Wednesday, the Leopards are set to host Villanova for another midweek contest on Tuesday. Lafayette went 1-2 across three games against Army West Point this past weekend, which included a 12-2 win over the Black Knights on Sunday. A win over Lehigh tomorrow would tie the Leopards with the Mountain Hawks in the league standings at 6-9, and Lafayette would own the tiebreaker via a 3-2 season series lead.
The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. from J. David Walker Field and will broadcast on ESPN+. There will also be a free t-shirt available for the first 30 students in attendance.
