Mountain Hawks Set to Host Army in Midweek Matchup

BETHLEHEM, Pa.  - Lehigh women's basketball will take on Army for the first time this season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Salute to Service Game, presented by Weis Markets. Any active or retired military member, first responder, or healthcare worker can claim a complimentary ticket for the game.

The Mountain Hawks are looking to bounce back after dropping two straight games to Bucknell and Loyola. Lehigh comes into Wednesday's game 14-10 (6-7 PL), and the Black Knights are 11-12 (8-5 PL).

Four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures Lehigh's game against the Greyhounds on Feb. 18. Junior guard Ella Stemmer paced the way for 19 points, Maddie Albrecht chipped in 14 points, Gracyn Lovette scored a career-high 11 points and Colleen McQuillen added 10 points. 

Lehigh shot 48% from the field, but Loyola shot 63.8% from the field. Alexa Therien scored 44 points after going 21-of-25 from the floor. The Greyhounds completely dominated the paint, holding a 54-26 advantage.

Stemmer leads the way for the Mountain Hawks with 14.0 points per game. She's scored in double figures four straight games and finished in double figures 17 times this season.  Her 14 points per game rank fifth in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks have four players in the top 25 in scoring. Sophomore forward Lily Fandre is putting up 12.1 points per game and is 13th in scoring, Meghan O'Brien is 22nd in scoring with 9.4 points per game and Albrecht is 23rd in scoring, averaging 9.3 points per game. 

The Black Knights are coming off of a 58-43 win over Holy Cross in its most recent outing. Fiona Hastick had 24 points to lead the way for Army. 

Lehigh leads the all-time series 38-36. The Mountain Hawks captured the series sweep against the Black Knights last season. Army last bested Lehigh Jan. 26, 2022, defeating the Mountain Hawks 70-57. Trinity Hardy leads the way for the Black Knights with 11.5 points per game.

Following Wednesday's game, Lehigh hosts Lafayette in The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
