Lehigh To Compete At Journeymen Collegiate Classic Sunday At Freedom HS

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh will spend the second weekend of the 2024-25 season sending a contingent of wrestlers to the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, Sunday at nearby Freedom High School.

As many as 18 wrestlers could compete Sunday in the event. The Journeymen Collegiate Classic will once again feature a tournament-style round-robin format. Wrestlers will compete in 6-to-8 man round robin brackets that will be followed by crossover matches. Action begins at 9 a.m. with streaming video available on FloWrestling.

Last weekend Lehigh had 21 wrestlers compete at the Princeton Open, with senior Sheldon Seymour (125) and first-year Logan Rozynski (157) claiming individual titles. Ten Mountain Hawks earned places in the top six at Princeton as well.

In addition, four wrestlers competed at the Clarion Open, with seniors Max Brignola (165 – unattached) and Michael Beard (197) winning titles and sophomore Luke Stanich (141 – unattached) and junior Nathan Taylor (285) finishing second.

Ryan Crookham led the way, winning a Hammer Award for capturing the 133A bracket, highlighted by a signature 8-4 decision over Cornell's Vito Arujau, at the time the reigning NCAA and World champion. Five other Mountain Hawks reached the finals in "A" brackets.

Following the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, the 16th-ranked Mountain Hawks will open the dual season against EIWA newcomer Morgan State, Friday, Nov. 15 inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.
