HAMDEN, Conn. - The Lehigh field hockey team defeated the Quinnipiac Bobcats 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Ella Stephenson and fifth year Julia Gatelein recorded goals for the Mountain Hawks. The Bobcats' Francisca Eschoyez scored the lone goal for Quinnipiac.

With 9:07 left in the first half, Stephenson gave Lehigh a 1-0 lead off a penalty corner. Junior KK Sauve and Gatelein assisted the game-opening goal.

Quinnipiac (2-10) evened the score at 2:16 in the second quarter, sending the teams into intermission tied 1-1.

Lehigh earned a penalty stroke with 10:17 remaining in the third quarter. Gatelein capitalized on the opportunity, giving Lehigh a 2-1 lead off her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Next up, Lehigh (6-4) travels to Easton on Friday, October 11 for a 7 p.m. matchup of The Rivalry with Lafayette.
