
Lehigh Drops Rivalry Game In Easton

EASTON, Pa. - After an early 3-0 Lafayette lead in the first half, the Lehigh field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision in The Rivalry on Friday night.

Lafayette struck first on a penalty stroke by Stella Malinowski, taking a 1-0 lead with 8:56 remaining in the first quarter.

The Leopards put in a second goal with 34 seconds remaining, as Lineke Spaans gave the home team a 2-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

At 13:53, Lafayette extended its lead to 3-0 on a penalty corner. With 11:16 on the clock, Lafayette earned a second penalty stroke, this time hitting the post and thwarting the attempt for the Leopards.

Following halftime, Lafayette added two more goals in the third quarter, extending its lead to 5-0.

Junior Jenny Canoni played the first half, recording two saves. Sophomore Kate Burgess substituted in for both first-half penalty strokes, allowing one. Burgess took over for the second half, making four saves. Lafayette goalkeeper Raffi Fragomeni tallied two saves.

Lehigh (6-5, 1-2 PL) is back in action on Sunday as they take on UAlbany at 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Sunday will be Lehigh's Pride Day presented by Lehigh's Pride Center and Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.
