
Mountain Hawks Battle Lafayette In The Rivalry On Friday; Welcomes UAlbany Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off a 2-1 non-league win over Quinnipiac last weekend, the Lehigh field hockey team heads to Lafayette on Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup of The Rivalry.

Fifth-year Julia Gatelein leads Lehigh (6-4, 1-1 PL) with seven goals and two assists, compiling 16 points. Maddie Kandra and Ella Stephenson rank second for the Mountain Hawks with two goals and two assists, apiece.

The Leopards (7-4, 2-1 PL) are led by the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Lineke Spaans with five goals and four assists. Lafayette's Mackenzie Switzer was also named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team. The defender has started and played in every game for the Leopards.

Lafayette leads the all-time series 42-16-2, most recently picking up a 2-1 win over Lehigh, concluding the 2023 campaign for the Mountain Hawks. Aubrey Ide scored Lehigh's goal with an assist from Gatelein.
