Lehigh To Face Colgate On CBS Sports Network Monday Evening

1/21/2024 1:40:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Only a day removed from their narrow 70-68 victory over American at Stabler Arena, Lehigh men's basketball heads right back on the road for a Monday night clash against defending Patriot League champion Colgate. The game is being broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network and will be the first of three such games for the Mountain Hawks this season.

Colgate (11-8, 5-1 PL) holds the advantage over Lehigh (5-12, 2-4 PL) in the all-time series 61-42 and have had great success against the Mountain Hawks in recent years. The Raiders are 9-1 in their last ten meetings against Lehigh, with the only loss coming by way of an 85-81 Lehigh win at Stabler Arena in 2022. Last season, Colgate swept the season series, winning 76-60 on the road and 81-53 on their home court.

A win for Lehigh would be their first against the Raiders in Colgate since 2018. Lehigh would also win consecutive games for the first time with a victory and improve their Patriot League record to 3-4.

Lehigh entered Saturday's game against American with three players on the sideline, including two regular starters. Despite this, the Mountain Hawks rallied to a 70-68 home victory over the Eagles. Tyler Whitney-Sidney led the way, posting a new career-high of 27 points in the win. Whitney-Sidney shot 10-10 from the free throw line to lead Lehigh. Due to the plethora of Lehigh absences, senior Jayshen Saigal played the most minutes of his career, knocking down a triple and playing solid team basketball the whole way through. Bube Momah added 14 points for his seventh double-digit scoring output of the season. The Mountain Hawks improved to 2-4 in Patriot League play, including a 1-4 mark in single-digit games.

After winning their third consecutive Patriot League title a year ago, the Colgate Raiders entered the 2023-24 season once again with high expectations, being picked to finish first in the league. Fifth-year forwards Ryan Moffatt and Keegan Records returned for their final seasons in Hamilton in hopes of leading their team to another title. However, it has been sophomore Braeden Smith who has led the team in scoring, posting 13.8 points per game. Smith also leads both his team and the Patriot League in assists, dishing out 5.5 per game. The Raiders hold the highest scoring margin in the league at 4.5 points and currently sit at second place in the league standings.

Monday's game will be aired on CBS Sports Network and can be listened to on Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
