
Four Mountain Hawks Finish in Double Figures in 81-65 Win against Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Four Mountain Hawks scored in double figures for Lehigh women's basketball to help secure its second league win of the season after taking down Navy 81-65 Wednesday night at Stabler Arena.
The Mountain Hawks improved to 10-6 (2-3 PL), while the Midshipmen fell to 5-11 (1-4 PL).
Ella Stemmer paced the way with a game-high of (21 points) after going 7-of-12 from the field. Maddie Albrecht had a career-high performance, scoring 18 points on 7-of-14 from the field. Albrecht also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists and blocked three shots. Albrecht's previous career-high was 11 points. Meghan O'Brien tallied 15 of her own points on 6-of-9 shooting, and Jamie Behar tallied 10 points.
"I had confidence from me and my coaches," Albrecht said.
Lehigh had one of its best shooting performances of the season, shooting 29-of-60 from the field (48.3%) and 12-of-28 from beyond the arc (42.9%). While Navy made 29 shots on 68 attempts, the difference would be the three-pointers. The Midshipmen made 1-of-9 attempts (11.1%).
"Shooters shoot," said head coach Addie Micir. "We know that, and we trust that, and we knew it wasn't going to last. What I love is how we earned those threes, and we made sure we had passes on the money. We had the guts to knock them down, so I'm really proud of them."
Lehigh came out ready to play right from the start, going on a 5-0 run in the first two minutes. The Midshipmen were able to claw back and take a 8-7 lead, but that would be their last lead of the game.
Lehigh used an 11-0 run in the first quarter and an Ella Stemmer buzzer beater to help take a 26-14 lead at the end of the first frame.
Despite the 12-point deficit, the Midshipmen would not go away as they cut the deficit to four points with 3:17 remaining in the first half. Lehigh was able to regain some momentum to take a 40-33 lead at halftime.
Albrecht went on a 6-0 run to start the second half, which gave Lehigh a 46-33 lead and forced a Navy timeout.
An Albrecht layup with 5:58 remaining in the third gave Lehigh an 18 point lead, which was also its largest lead of the game, but the Midshipmen cut the Mountain Hawks lead to 58-51 heading into the final frame.
Lily Fandre made a three-pointer to start the fourth quarter, and Lehigh would only go on to extend its lead in the fourth, outscoring Navy 23-14. Fandre finished the game with eight rebounds and eight rebounds.
Gracyn Lovette scored a career-high of six points after connecting on both of her three point attempts.
Navy was led by Zanai Barnett-Gay, who finished with 18 points.
The Mountain Hawks will hit the road, starting with a matchup against American on Saturday at 2 p.m. Lehigh will then head to Hamilton, N.Y. to face Colgate on Monday at 4 p.m. The American game will be streamed on ESPN+ while the Colgate game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
