
Lehigh Travels to Nation's Capital for Saturday Showdown vs. American

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball begins the busiest three-day stretch of the season, starting with a matchup at American on Saturday at 2 p.m. before going up north to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate on Monday at 4 p.m.
The Mountain Hawks picked up their second league win of the season after defeating Navy 81-65 on Jan. 17. Lehigh comes into Saturday's game with an overall record of 10-6 (2-3 PL), while the Eagles are 6-10 (4-1 PL).
Despite being down two starters, four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures for the third time this season. Ella Stemmer had a game-high of 21 points, Maddie Albrecht had a career-high game as she scored 18 points, corralled seven rebounds, dished out five assists and blocked three shots. Meghan O'Brien added 13 points, and Jamie Behar recorded 10 points.
While she didn't finish in double figures, Lily Fandre was also productive as she recorded eight points and a team-high of eight rebounds.
Lehigh also shot the ball well as a team, going 48.3% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc. The Mountain Hawks also shared the ball, recording 21 assists on 29 made field goals.
Saturday's game against American and Lehigh will be the second time these two teams meet this season, as they played each other in the Patriot League Opener.
The Eagles defeated the Mountain Hawks 68-65, as Lehigh's game-tying shot did not go in. Meghan O'Brien had a team-high of 13 points and a team-high of nine rebounds, while Lily Fandre added 13 points.
Laura Nogues was the leading scorer in that game, as she recorded at the time a career-high of 16 points.
In the first meeting of the season, the Mountain Hawks struggled to take care of the basketball, committing a season-high of 23 turnovers. Since that game, Lehigh has turned it over less than 15 times in each game.
While American started off 4-0, Loyola handed them its first loss of league play on Jan. 17, defeating the Eagles 59-55. Ivy Bales scored a career-high of 26 points, and Emily Johns tallied 20 points.
The Mountain Hawks are 18-37 all-time against the Eagles. The last time Lehigh played at Bender Arena, the Mountain Hawks defeated the Eagles 79-77 as American's game-tying shot did not go in. The last two out of three games between American and Lehigh have been decided by just one possession.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Monday's Lehigh-Colgate game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
