
Lehigh Takes on Defending PL Champs on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After picking up its first league win of the season on Wednesday against Bucknell with a 69-63 victory, Lehigh women's basketball will look to continue its momentum with a matchup at Holy Cross on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Saturday's game will also be a rematch of the 2023 Patriot League Semifinals, where Lehigh was defeated 71-54.
The Crusaders went on to win the Patriot League Championship last season. The Mountain Hawks come into Saturday's game with a 9-5 overall record (1-2 PL), while the Crusaders are 9-5 (3-0 PL).
Lehigh and Holy Cross played each other three times last season. The Mountain Hawks went 1-2 last season and are 30-49 all-time against the Crusaders. Holy Cross was 8-0 last season in league play before Lehigh defeated the Crusaders 76-74 in overtime last Jan. 25 at Stabler Arena.
Four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures in Lehigh's last game against Bucknell for just the second time this season. Lily Fandre had a team-high of 15 points, Remi Sisselman had 13 points, Colleen McQuillen tallied 11 points, and Ella Stemmer recorded 10 points.
Sisselman and Fandre also both corralled a team-high of seven rebounds. McQuilled finished with a game-high seven assists. McQuillen is dishing it out at an effective rate as she averages a league-leading 4.85 assists.
Fandre and Stemmer are Lehigh's two leading scorers. Stemmer is averaging 15.7 points per game, and Fandre is averaging 13.7 points per game. Fandre has also finished in double figures in each of Lehigh's last seven games.
Meghan O'Brien is right behind Fandre and Stemme in scoring, as she is averaging 9.5 points per game.
The Crusaders have three players averaging double figures. Bronagh Power-Cassidy leads the way with a team-high 15.1 points per game, Janelle Allen is next with 10.5 points per game, and Cara McCormack is averaging 10.1 points per game.
In addition to Holy Cross's 3-0 start to league play, the Crusaders are also on a five-game winning streak.
The only common league opponent so far this season was Bucknell. Holy Cross played the Bison in the league opener and won 69-54.
