BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team will be back on the course this weekend as the Mountain Hawks will kick off the fall season at the Bucknell Invitational, Saturday and Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
The first of four fall tournaments for the Mountain Hawks will feature 54 holes of play (36 Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and 18 Sunday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start) at the par 70, 5,901-yard course at Bucknell.
The 11-team field includes Bucknell, Boston University, Bryant, Delaware State, Holy Cross, Lehigh, LIU, Navy, Niagara, Saint Francis and Stonehill. Five of the six Patriot League schools that sponsor women's golf will get an early look at the course that will host April's Patriot League Championship.
Lehigh finished third at last-year's Patriot League Championship with Yuki Zhu (first team) and Madison Pineda (second team) earning All-Patriot League honors.
Head coach Mary Kate Lynch enters her seventh season with an eight-player roster. The lone senior is UNC Asheville transfer Venecia Zaia, while Pineda and Sophie Chang comprise the junior class. Lehigh also has a pair of sophomores in Zhu and Evelyn Wong, while Lynch has added a trio of first-years in Stefania Fedun, Olivia Lu and Isabella Scanapicco.
Lehigh's lineup at Bucknell will feature Zaia, Pineda, Zhu, Fedun and Scanapicco.
Live scoring from the Bucknell Invitational will be available on Golf Genius.
Following the Bucknell Invitational, Lehigh will play in Delaware State's Hornet Classic at the Creek (Sept. 18-19) and Boston College's Red Bandana Intercollegiate (Sept. 25-26) before the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Invitational on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club Oct. 23-24.
