Lehigh Opens Patriot League Play Versus Boston U. Friday; Heads to Wagner Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team opens league play at 5 p.m. on Friday when it welcomes Boston U. to Ulrich Field. Sunday's matchup is an away contest at Wagner slated for 1 p.m. in Staten Island, N.Y.
 
The Mountain Hawks (5-2) ended their five game winning streak with a 2-1 loss to Temple who is now ranked no. 19 in the country. Sophomore Guusje Hogendoorn netted Lehigh's goal, tallying her second of the season.
 
Senior Lotte Smorenburg leads Lehigh with four goals and two assists. Sophomores Zoe Day and Maddie Kandra along with senior Abbie Brown each have three goals apiece for the Mountain Hawks. 
 
Lehigh trails 3-8 in the all-time series with Boston U., with the Mountain Hawks defeating the Terriers 2-1 in overtime in the Patriot League Championship Game last season. Kandra scored in regulation and Hogendoorn ultimately netted the game winner. 
 
Boston U. is 3-3, dropping contests to Michigan State, Ohio and Boston College. Caroline O'Brien leads the Terriers with five goals, scoring a hat trick in the 4-3 win over Vermont on Sept. 10. They are 1-0 in Patriot League play after defeating Holy Cross 4-0 on Monday. 
 
The Mountain Hawks are 1-2 in the series with Wagner, most recently falling 4-3 on September 11, 2022. The Seahawks are 0-5 this season following a 11-7 record last season. The Wagner team has scored three goals while conceding 18.
 
Friday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ while Sunday's game airs on NEC Front Row.
