JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First-year Laura Reigle of the Lehigh women's track and field program made her NCAA Championship debut with a 23rd-place finish in the pole vault in the First Round of the East Regional at the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of North Florida on Thursday evening.

Reigle competed in the first flight of 24 pole vaulters, cleared the first height of 3.82m on her second attempt, and then cleared the next mark of 3.97m on her second try. She was unable to get over the bar at 4.12m, which would have broken her own school record by 0.08m, having her finish her heat in a five-way tie for 10th. After the second flight concluded, Reigle would finish in a five-way tie for 23rd in her first appearance at the NCAA East First Round.

Reigle has qualified for the first round of the East Region after claiming the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field title in the pole vault for a spot on the All-Patriot League first team, clearing 4.04m to break her own school record and capturing the gold medal, which has her ranked 47th in the region. Carrying her momentum from winning the league championship, she then went on to win the 2023 ECAC/IC4A pole vault championship by clearing 4.03m a week later.

Reigle's teammates on the men's track and field squad will compete tomorrow, Friday, May 26 with sophomore Liam Lovering throwing in the discus at 1 p.m. and senior Ian Scott will compete in the triple jump at 6 p.m.
