Mountain Hawks Host the Lehigh Games for their First Home Meet of the 2023 Outdoor Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Lehigh track and field programs will host the first of three home meets at the Goodman Track and Field Complex this weekend as the Mountain Hawks host The Lehigh Games Friday and Saturday, April 7-8.
Seven other teams will be joining the Mountain Hawks at this year's games: Bucknell, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Lafayette, Moravian, Sacred Heart and St. Joe's.
The Lehigh Games will start Friday afternoon with the women's hammer throw at 1 p.m. with the men to follow. The men's javelin is set to begin at 2 p.m. with the women's javelin taking place after the conclusion of the men.
Saturday opens with the women's discus, men's shot put and the men's pole vault at 10:30 a.m. with the men's and women's events taking place at after. At 12 p.m., the men's high jump will begin with the women competing after. The men's long jump and triple jump with both take place on the west runway while the women's long jump and triple jump will compete on the east runway.
Track events will begin at 11 a.m. with the women's and men's 3,000-meter steeplechases, followed by the 4x100-meter relays. The women's and men's 1,500-meter runs will occur at approximately 11:40 a.m. before the women's 100-meter hurdles and the men's 110-meter hurdles at 12 and 12:10 p.m.
The 400-meter events will be next and the 100-meter dashes will take place after that. At 1 p.m., the participants in the women's and men's 800-meter runs will compete with the 400-meter hurdles taking place right after. The 200-meter dashes follow the 400-meter hurdles and the 5,000-meter races are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. before the 4x400-meter relays close out the event.
Both of Lehigh's teams have 18 results that rank in the top 10 in the Patriot League heading into the weekend. There are 11 different men and both relay squads are top 10 while there are 15 different Mountain Hawks on the women's side, including the relay squads that rank in the top 10 performances in the league.
Women's Top League Performers
Junior Ashley Struck sits in the top 10 in two different events, the 100m dash and the 200m dash, ranking 8th in the 200m with a time of 24.88 and ninth in the 100m with a time of 12.19.
First-year Laura Reigle boasts a third-place mark in the league in the pole vault at a height of 3.85m that she cleared at the Mountain Hawks' last meet hosted by Lafayette which garnered her a Patriot League Honorable mention this past week.
Senior Chae Kim ranks fifth in the 100m hurdles against league opponents with a time of 14.76 seconds while junior Christina Yakaboski is fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:34.23.
Both the 4x100m and the 4x400m relay squads also are in the top five in the Patriot League. The team of senior Ashley Griesmeyer and sophomores Stephanie Webb and Shelby Dejana and Gianna Mangili turned in a time of 48.03 seconds at the Monmouth Spring Opener on March 24 to sit in fourth in the league while the quartet of senior Anna Murphy, first-year Grace Kennedy, Struck and Mangili finished the 4x400m relay in a time of 3:58.31, which sits fifth in the league.
Men's Top League Performers
There are three Mountain Hawks that currently rank in the top 10 in the Patriot League in two events, led by sophomore Skyler Mott, who is fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.62m and fourth in the high jump with a height of 2.05m. Also finding himself in the top 10 in the triple jump is sophomore Mulenga Malama, who sits seventh with a distance of 13.24m and is seventh in the long jump as well with a mark of 6.93m. Sophomore Liam Lovering is the final member of the Brown and White that is in the top 10 in two events, with Lovering fifth in the league in the discus with a throw of 49.44m and seventh in the shot put with a mark of 15.75m.
Sophomore Patrez Thomas has the only top-three finish for Lehigh so far this season, sitting third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.41 seconds at the Monmouth Spring Opener on March 24. Junior Achilles Mouzakis currently is in fifth in the league in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.01m that he just threw this past weekend at the Lehigh-Lafayette Dual Meet.
Both of Lehigh's relay squads sit in the top 10, with the team of seniors Amondo Lemmon, Joseph Cranley and Thomas Leitner and sophomore Ethan Hood sitting in fifth in the league in the 4x400m relay. The squad of senior John Siani, juniors Drew Roman and Daniel Stipanov and Lemmon are currently ranked sixth in the League.
