Â
The Mountain Hawks took control early, scoring six runs in the top of the second as they improve to 18-20 overall and 5-10 in the Patriot League.
Â
Lafayette is now 11-27 overall and 7-8 in league play.
Â
The six-run second began with consecutive singles by junior Andrew Nole and fifth-year Joe Gorla before fifth-year Gerard Sweeney brought both runners in with a double to right center. Sweeney scored when junior Tyler Young reached on an error with the bases loaded to put Lehigh up 3-0 and Rother followed with a two-run double to left center to put the Mountain Hawks up 5-0. Young scored Lehigh's sixth run after coming in from third before sophomore Justin Butler was caught stealing.

Ethan Swidler's RBI ground out put Lafayette on the board in the second.
Â
Rother came up again in the fourth and drilled a two-run home run to center to extend the Mountain Hawks' lead to 8-1. The home run, his 14th of the season, lifted Rother past Jacen Nalesnik (2017) and Mike Garzillo (2015) and into the top spot on Lehigh's single season list. Rother also now has 54 RBIs on the season, tying him with Garzillo for second behind Matt McBride, who drove in 61 in 2006.
