Lehigh Sweeps Loyola 7-0 to Open Patriot League Slate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Playing in its Patriot League opener, the Lehigh men's tennis team posting a convincing 7-0 win over Loyola Saturday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks swept all nine contested matches, winning all three doubles matches and taking all six singles matches in straight sets to improve their season record to 7-6.

The doubles sweep began with a win at No. 3 as first-years Aristotelis Bezianis and Jackson Morash defeated Jorge Quintana and Gilberto Rivera Gordillo 6-2. Lehigh's top team of sophomore Marc Blekhman and first-year Sean Jaeger clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Matt Cardano and Oliver Davey. Senior Michael Bukhalo teamed with junior Jordan Paul to secure the sweep with a 7-5 victory at No. 2.

Senior Matt Kleiman dropped just one game in a win at No. 1 singles against Cardano to extend Lehigh's lead to 2-0. Blekhman then defeated Davey 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 to give the Mountain Hawks a 3-0 advantage. Paul delivered the clinching point with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nick Lawliss at No. 4 singles.

Morash and Bukhalo posted straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively and first-year Wyeth Anzilotti cemented the shutout by winning a second set tiebreak 7-1 to secure a 6-0, 7-6 win over Trevor Girandola at No. 5.

The Mountain Hawks will take to the road next weekend for a Sunday match at Colgate, with first serves set for 4 p.m.
