Four Mountain Hawks Earn Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh athletes claimed four out of the six Patriot League weekly awards, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore pole vaulter Laura Reigle was named the Female Field Athlete of the Week following her record breaking performance of 4.10m in Fast Times Before Finals. Reigle previously held the record of 4.05m which she set last season.

Junior Gideon Coprivnicar was tabbed Male Field Athlete of the Week with his top-10 performance in the heptathlon. The multi event athlete garnered seventh all-time in the heptathlon with 4,742 points. Coprivnicar finished first in the pole vault (4.27m), second in the shot put (11.06m), second in the high jump (1.88m), third in the 60m hurdles (8.60m), third in the long jump (6.23m), fourth in the 1000m (3:00.74) and sixth in the 60m (7.45)

With her record-setting performance on the track, sophomore Abby Klebe was named the Female Track Athlete of the Week. Klebe set the record for the 1000m with 2:51.00. The record was previously set in 2012 by Julia Perry who ran 2:51.55.

In her first collegiate pentathlon, first-year Emma Sanford landed seventh all-time in Lehigh history and garnered Female Rookie of the Week honors. Sanford compiled 3,326 points finishing first in the shot put (10.81m) and long jump (5.23m), second in high jump (1.57m), third in the hurdles (9.25) and fourth in the 800 (2:40.75).

Junior Patrez Thomas earned honorable mention nods after his performance on the track.

Lehigh opens the new year at the Wagner College Invitational on January 5 at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, N.Y.
