BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year running back Luke Yoder has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday. Yoder enjoyed his first career 100-yard rushing game as part of Lehigh's top offensive output of the season Saturday at Fordham.
Â
Yoder carried the ball 14 times for 103 yards Saturday in the Bronx, averaging 7.4 yards per carry as Lehigh amassed season-highs for team rushing yards (133), total yards (390) and points (35). In the second quarter, Yoder broke off a 51-yard run down the right sideline, setting the Mountain Hawks up with a 1st-and-goal inside the Fordham five yard line. Two plays later, sophomore Brayten Silbor plunged in from a yard out to give Lehigh a 14-7 lead.
Â
For the season, Yoder leads Lehigh with 202 rushing yards on 38 carries. He scored a touchdown on a two-yard rush against Cornell on Sept. 16.
Â
Silbor garnered honorable mention recognition from the league after a strong showing at Fordham where he had a hand in all five Lehigh touchdowns. The Scottsdale, Ariz., product threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns while adding two rushing touchdowns against the Rams.
Â
The Mountain Hawks return to Goodman Stadium on Saturday to host Georgetown on Tackle Cancer Day, presented by Red Robin in partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Game time is set for noon. Tickets can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-758-4263 during business hours.
