
Lehigh Drops 3-0 Decision to Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Lehigh field hockey team fell 3-0 to Holy Cross on Saturday in Patriot League play.
Junior goalkeeper Jenny Canoni made a career-high nine saves for the Mountain Hawks. Sophomore Zoe Day led in shots with eight.

Holy Cross struck first with just under two minutes remaining in the first half, carrying a 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Mountain Hawks controlled momentum during the third quarter, recording 11 shots to the Crusaders' three. Neither team was able to find the back of the cage as Holy Cross maintained its 1-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

Lehigh earned three penalty corners in the opening two minutes of the fourth but was unable to capitalize as Holy Cross' Megan Schienbein picked up a defensive save in the beginning of the sequence.

The Crusaders' Sarah Potter gave Holy Cross a 2-0 lead with 12:53 remaining in the game. Around four minutes later, Holy Cross increased its lead to 3-0 on a goal by Meggan Fourie.Â

The Mountain Hawks earned six penalty corners in the final nine minutes but were unable to erase the deficit as Holy Cross secured the 3-0.
