WHY LEHIGH? "Lehigh University gives me the opportunity to combine high-level academics with Division I field hockey. During my visit, I loved the atmosphere on campus and was impressed by the dedication of staff and students to achieve the best results. I am convinced that my time at Lehigh will massively contribute to my development as a person."
AS A SENIOR (2023): Second Team All-Patriot League honoree…Started and played in all 17 games…ranked second in points with 14 off five goals and four assists…tallied two goals in Lehigh’s 5-2 win over Sacred Heart on 9/10…recorded one goal and one assist versus Ball State (8/27)...dished out an assist against Lock Haven (9/1)...scored one goal apiece against Hofstra (9/3) and Colgate (10/30) while contributing an assist at Cornell (10/1)...earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on 9/11…landed on CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team and was an Academic All-Patriot League Team selection…named to NFHCA 2023 Division I National Academic Squad…named to Patriot League Honor Roll

AS A JUNIOR (2022): Started and played in all 21 games for the Mountain Hawks that won the Patriot League Championship… Scored three goals and recorded two assists for eight points… Tallied the game-winning goal and an assist in the Senior Day win over Colgate (10/29)... Found the back of the cage in a shutout victory over Holy Cross (10/22)... Scored another game-winning goal was scored in the win over Merrimack (9/24)... Made a defensive save in a thrilling overtime victory over Villanova (10/3)...
AS A SOPHOMORE (2021): Tied for sixth on the Mountain Hawks with eight points via three goals and two assists … Three goals were tied for fifth on the team … Finished with eight shots, four on goal … Dished an assist in 2-1 win against Temple (10/10) … Scored a goal in back-to-back days at Merrimack (10/3) and Holy Cross (10/2) … Had a goal the weekend prior at Colgate (9/25). Two shots tied a career high … Recorded an assist in the season opener at Villanova (8/27). Also fired two shots … Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and NFHCA National Academic Squad.

AS A FIRST-YEAR (SPRING, 2021): Started all five games at forward … Fired three shots, two on goal … Tallied a shot at No. 20 Boston University (4/18) … Two weeks prior, had two shots (both on goal) vs. Holy Cross (4/4) … Started collegiate debut at Lafayette (3/14) … Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and NFHCA National Academic Squad.
BEFORE LEHIGH: Became the third Mountain Hawk on the roster from The Netherlands, joining Lenke Havas and Sarah Bonthuis ...  Ever since Smorenburg competed in U10, was selected for the first team in her age category ... Became champion in the 'subtopklasse' with her U14-1 team, and champion in the 'topklasse' with her U16-1 team ... When she was 15,  made her debut in the first ladies team (which featured athletes 18 years old and when), scoring twice resulting in a 2-2 final score ... Strong in the classroom, Smorenburg followed an extra program about rhetoric given by 'Stichting Landmerk' when in 10th grade ... The following year, participated in a pre-university class about psychology offered by the University of Leiden ... Followed four years of TTO (bilingual education) ... Also took the IB exam for the course 'English Language and Literature Higher Level'.
