
No. 20 UAlbany Defeats Lehigh 4-0

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Lehigh field hockey team concluded this weekend's play with a 4-0 loss to no. 20 UAlbany on Sunday afternoon.
The Great Danes put up two early goals in the first quarter, carrying a 2-0 lead through halftime.
The next goal of the contest came 5:40 into the second half, as UAlbany's Isabella Del Vecchio scored a give-and-go from Alison Smisdom.
Junior goalkeeper Jenny Canoni played three quarters, recording nine saves and conceding three goals. First-year Kate Burgess got the nod for the fourth quarter, allowing one goal and making seven saves. Burgess has made two appearances for the Mountain Hawks, substituting in on penalty strokes versus Colgate and American.
UAlbany outshot the Mountain Hawks 34-2 with junior Guusje Hogendoorn recording both shots for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks are currently tied with Bucknell for fourth place in the Patriot League. The top four teams qualify for the Patriot League Tournament, with American and Lafayette already clinching berths.
Lehigh (9-7, 2-3 PL) concludes regular season play on Friday as it hosts Lafayette at 7 p.m. in The Rivalry presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute.
