Men's Rowing Sees First Fall Competition Against Rutgers

10/21/2023 6:16:00 PM | Men's Rowing

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Lehigh men's rowing got its first taste of competition against another team on Saturday, as the Mountain Hawks traveled their novice men to Rutgers for a joint practice/scrimmage with the Scarlett Knights. Saturday's meeting was the first against another school for either Lehigh men's or women's rowing this academic year.

Both the Rutgers coaches and Lehigh coaches agreed to not track results or keep win/loss records from the day's events. Despite this, assistant coach Gavin Boyd-Goodrich believes that a lot of good came out of Saturday's meeting for the Mountain Hawks.

"Today was really valuable for the novices," said Boyd-Goodrich. "The windy, choppy conditions and immediate intensity from Rutgers' crews were new experiences for our guys, and I'm really happy with how the team responded. I'm really thankful to Rutgers for hosting and bringing the heat from the first stroke; I think our guys learned a lot."

The Mountain Hawks will next be in action on October 28 for their annual Class Day Races. Like Lehigh Rowing on Facebookfollow on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram for continued updates on the Mountain Hawks.
