Lehigh Falls Short in Home Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's swimming and diving fell just short in the home opener, losing 117-107 to West Chester Friday evening at Jacobs Pool. 

The Mountain Hawks moved to 0-2 on the season, while the Golden Rams improved to 3-1. 

Elvin Lee, Carson Morris, Aaron Williams and Jack Devilbiss led Lehigh to a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.19. 

Lehigh was a second away from capturing a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay as well. Elvin Lee, Tim Norris, Alex Patti and Kegan Casey took second with a time of 3:06.48. 

Lehigh had a one-two punch in the 200-yard freestyle as Connor Goodyear took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.87) and Patti took second with a time of 1:42.43. 

Goodyear also came in second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.48). 

Williams had 11 individual points as he won the 50-yard freestyle (21.14) and came in fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (48.35). 

Sophomore Ben Kisker won the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.24). 

Lee captured a win in the 200-yard IM  with a time of 1:55.09.

In what was his second collegiate meet, junior diver Jack Grotke dove to a first-place finish in the one-meter dive after scoring 193.58 points. 

The Mountain Hawks will close out their home swing with a meet against Rider at Jacobs Pool on Saturday at 2 p.m.
