BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As Lehigh prepares to make its return to NCAA Regional competition, senior shortstop Carley Barjaktarovich has been named second team Mid-Atlantic All-Region by the NFCA. This is the second consecutive All-Region honor for Barjaktarovich, who was the first team shortstop in 2021.
Barjaktarovich won her second consecutive Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year award this season became a two-time All-Patriot League honoree with her first team selection. In 47 games this season, Barjaktarovich boasts a .374 batting average. She leads Lehigh in batting average, hits (58), runs (34) and stolen bases (23). She also has a .982 fielding percentage covering 169 chances.
Now a two-year team captain, Barjaktarovich has appeared in 155 career games at shortstop with a .373 batting average, 184 hits, 103 runs and 57 stolen bases.
With her selection, Barjaktarovich gives the Mountain Hawks NFCA All-Region honorees in back-to-back seasons after previously not having an All-Region selection since 2017. Barjaktarovich is Lehigh's first multi-time All-Region honoree since Morgan Decker '16 (2013, 2014, 2016).
Barjaktarovich has helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a 30-18-1 record and the program's 15th Patriot League Tournament title. Lehigh will make its 11th NCAA Regional appearance all-time this weekend in Seattle, Wash.
The Mountain Hawks will open regional play against No. 13 Washington Friday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from Husky Softball Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
