BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh softball team ran into a hot-hitting Rutgers squad Tuesday at Leadership Park, with the Scarlet Knights claiming a 20-5 victory in six innings on Pride Day, presented by Lehigh's Pride Center and office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging.

The visiting Scarlet Knights hit six home runs and broke open what was a two-run ballgame with 14 runs over their final two at bats.

Junior Holly Lovett hit her first home run of the season and first-year Lola Fasano went 2-for-2 with a two-run single as Lehigh falls to 20-18 on the season.

Rutgers' 20 runs came on 17 hits. Rachel Millan went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, with the Scarlet Knights' six home runs coming from six different players.

Sam Rohwer led off the game with a home run to left, the first of three home runs in the top of the first as Rutgers led 4-0 before Lehigh came to bat.

The Scarlet Knights added two more runs in the top of the third to go up 6-0 before Lehigh answered back with four runs in the home third inning to get within 6-4.

Senior Sydney Parlett drew a two-out walk and Lovett followed by hitting her first home run of the season out to center field. A walk and single put runners at second and third for Fasano who singled up the middle to bring home two more runs.

Rutgers (19-21) plated four more runs in the fifth inning and added 10 in the sixth on three more home runs, including a Kelsey Hoekstra grand slam, to put the game out of reach.

Senior Crysta Duenas came home with Lehigh's fifth run when an apparent strikeout was ruled a ball.

Lehigh mustered six hits off of Rutgers pitching and drew five walks.

Five Mountain Hawks saw time in the circle Tuesday. First-year Addison Moorman started and went the first two innings, allowing four runs on four hits.

The Mountain Hawks are back in action Wednesday they night when they travel to Center Valley to face De Sales at 6 p.m.
