Mountain Hawks Finishes Two-Meet Weekend With 31 PRs

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - With just two weeks left until the outdoor Patriot League Championships, the Mountain Hawks continued to show improvement and prove how ready they are for the upcoming championship. The Lehigh women's track and field team competed in both the Virginia Challenge and Coach P Invitational where they finished with 31 personal records and ten first-place finishes. 

Lehigh's sprinters had a successful day at Moravian's Coach P Invitational on Saturday. In the 100m, four Mountain Hawks finished with new personal records. Leading the way was first-year Melissa Cunningham who won the 100m with a time of 12.08. Cunningham is now second all-time and is one step closer to her third school record of the year. 

Following close behind Cunningham was sophomore Jordyn Hock who finished fourth with a time of 12.40. Hock is now ninth all-time. Senior Camari Griffin and first-year Stephanie Webb both finished with PRs in the 100m. Griffin finished sixth with a time of 12.65 and Webb finished seventh with a time of 12.67. 

Cunningham continued to put up impressive times on Saturday after earning her second PR of the day in the 200m. The first-year finished second with a time of 24.99 to become second all-time. Hock finished third with a PR of 25.03 and is now third all-time as well. Juniors Ashley Griesmeyer and Anna Murphy also both finished with PRs in the 200m. Murphy finished with a time of 26.78 while Griesmeyer finished with a time of 26.94. 

The Mountain Hawks continued to find success on the track at Moravian and Virginia on Friday and Saturday. At the Coach P Invitational, sophomore Ashley Struck won the 400m with a new personal record of 58.06. First-year Riley Morrell also earned a new PR in the 400m, finishing with a time of 1:03.21. 

In the 800m, junior Annalise Davis and Natalie Condon both earned personal records while finishing first and second, respectively. Davis won the 800m at the Coach P Invitational with a time of 2:16.09 while Condon finished close behind with a time of 2:16.34. At the Virginia Challenge, senior Julia Dorley earned a new personal record in the 800m as well. Dorley finished with a time of 2:12.29. 

Lehigh's distance group continued to put up impressive times on the track at both meets this weekend. Leading the way was senior Kara Bonner who finished the 1500m at the Virginia Challenge with a huge personal record. Bonner finished with a time of 4:31.12 to become fifth all-time. 

At the Coach P Invitational, Lehigh's distance group found success on the track, finishing with two first-place finishes and five PRs. In the 1500m, junior Andrea Miller finished second with a time of 4:48.50 and sophomore Andrine Larsen finished third with a new personal record of 4:52.07. Senior Emma Linde also earned a personal record in the 1500m on Saturday, finishing with a time of 5:04.50. 

Christina Yakaboski continued to put up solid times as well. The sophomore won the 5000m with a new PR of 17:16.79. Junior Madison Zaun finished second with a time of 17:58.10 and juniors Eirinn Sikes and Allison Duane finished with respective PRs of 19:06.31 and 19:16.46.

In the steeplechase, first-year Savanah Beavers earned her second win of the season, finishing the race with a new personal record of 11:17.34. 

The Mountain Hawks continued to put up solid marks in the field events, finishing with four first-place finishes and nine PRs. In the throws, senior Veronica Meyer won two events at the Coach P Invitational on Saturday. Meyer won the hammer throw with a new PR of 50.85m and won the javelin with a throw of 39.29m. Fellow senior Teasha McKoy finished sixth in the discus at the Virginia Challenge with a mark of 47.08m. 

In the jumps, the Mountain Hawks swept the triple jump with sophomore Nina Cialone winning the event with a PR of 11.76m. Junior Rachel Sequeria finished second with a mark of 11.48m while first-year Lillian Mauger (11.00m) and junior Avery Roze (10.70m) followed close behind, finishing third and fourth respectively. First-year Lauren Roy also earned a new PR in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a mark of 10.47m. 

Lehigh continued to show improvement in the long jump, with four Mountain Hawks earning new personal records. First-year Keisha Modi led Lehigh with her second place finish and PR of 5.58m. Sequeira and Roze followed close behind, finishing third and fourth with respective PRs of 5.54m and 5.30m. Mauger finished fifth (5.25m) while Roy finished sixth with her second PR of the day (5.19m). 

First-years Izabel Fronc and Randi Conroy both won their events at the Coach P Invitational on Saturday. Fronc won the high jump with a new PR of 1.55m while Conroy won the pole vault with a mark of 3.62m. Senior Carly Carpino also earned a PR in the high jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 1.55m 

The Mountain Hawks will wrap up the regular season with another two-meet weekend next weekend. While some members of the Lehigh women's track and field team will head to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays, others will remain in Bethlehem for the Carol & John Covert Classic at Goodman Track and Field Complex.
