11/12/2022 4:40:00 PM | Women's Basketball
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Lehigh women's basketball team returns to action for its second game in less than 48 hours as the Mountain Hawks take on Minnesota Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Williams Arena. It's a game that is highly anticipated for many reasons.
It will be a homecoming game for Anna Harvey, Frannie Hottinger, Mackenzie Kramer, Kaylee Van Eps, Lily Fandre and Katie Hurt. All six Mountain Hawks hail from Minnesota. Lehigh and Minnesota have had a big connection in recent years. Hannah Hedstrom '20 was the first Lehigh player to come from Minnesota. Since then, the Mountain Hawks have had nine other players from the state.Â
Lehigh is 0-2 against Minnesota, with the most recent meeting happening in 2019. Anna Harvey and Frannie Hottinger were the only players on this team that played in that game.
The Mountain Hawks are 1-1 this season after falling to South Dakota State Friday night, and Minnesota is 1-0 after defeating Western Illinois 75-45 on Monday.
Lehigh and Minnesota share a common opponent in South Dakota. The Jackrabbits defeated Minnesota 78-57 in the WNIT last season.
The Golden Gophers have eight players from Minnesota. Van Eps and Minnesota's Mallory Heyer were teammates at Chaska High School.Â
Hottinger and Kramer continue to lead the way for Lehigh. Between the two, they have nearly 100 points in just two games. Hottinger scored 25 points against South Dakota State, which was just two points off of her career-high. Hottinger also recorded a double-double in the first game against Stonehill after tallying a career-high 18 rebounds, while putting up 21 points.
Kramer had 13 points in the first game and 21 points against South Dakota State.
The Gophers had three players finish in double figures in the season-opener. Mara Braun led the team with 21 points, Katie Borowicz had 16 points, and Alanna Micheaux had 14.Â
Sunday's game will be broadcasted on B1G+.
Following Sunday's game, Lehigh will be back at Stabler Arena to face Bloomsburg Friday at 7 p.m.
