Mountain Hawks Ready for Senior Night Game vs. Boston University

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – At 2-0-1 in the league and in sole possession of first place in the Patriot League, the Lehigh women's soccer team returns home on Friday to host Boston University. Opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m. with live stats available. Prior to opening kickoff, the Mountain Hawks will honor their seven seniors on Senior Night.

Friday will mark Lehigh's fourth Patriot League contest, all coming in the Lehigh Valley (three home and won at Lafayette). Last week, the Mountain Hawks went 2-0 behind a pair of 2-1 victories – at Lafayette and home vs. Holy Cross. Freshman Corinne Lyght had a had in all four goals over the two games (posting one goal and three assists). After two assists in Wednesday's thrilling win in Easton, Lyght scored her first-career goal in the 35th minute Sunday, then assisted on sophomore Ava Schaller's game-winning goal in the 80th minute. Lehigh outshot Holy Cross in the game, 18-6, including 6-2 in shots on goal.

Lyght was honored on Monday with a well-deserved Patriot League Rookie of the Week award. With Bucknell losing and Army West Point tying this weekend, coupled with Lehigh's win, the Mountain Hawks jumped into sole possession of first place in the stands – one third of the way through the league schedule.

Boston University stands 5-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in league play. The Terriers own Patriot League wins against Lafayette and Navy, with a loss to Colgate sandwiched in between. Boston University's nonleague victories came over Northeastern, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Jenna Oldham leads the team in goals (3 – tied), assists (5) and points (11). Margaret Berry has also scored three goals. A pair of goalkeepers have seen almost identical time, with Celia Braun tallying a 1.57 goals against average and 71.0 save percentage. Gretchen Bennett has a 1.64 GAA and 72.7 save percentage.

In the last meeting between the two sides, Lehigh beat BU 1-0 at home in 2019 behind a Mary Casey goal, for its first-ever win in the all-time series. The Terriers lead the series, 5-1-2, with Lehigh earning ties in 2014 and 2017. Lehigh and BU squared off in the 2018 Patriot League Championship Game, with the Terriers picking up a slim 1-0 win behind a 73rd minute goal.

Following Friday's game, Lehigh will return to action next Friday (Oct. 8) as it travels to Navy to face the Midshipmen at 7 p.m.
