BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two members of the Lehigh football program have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team announced Thursday. Linebacker Pete Haffner and wide receiver Austin Dambach were both recognized in 2019 and now earn Academic All-District honors for the second straight season. Both Mountain Hawks will now advance on the ballot for potential Academic All-America recognition.

The Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of CoSIDA whose schools are in the region. District 2 consists of schools from Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or key reserve.

Back in April, Haffner and Dambach represented Lehigh football on the Academic All-Patriot League team for the Spring 2021 season.

Haffner graduated last month with a 3.68 GPA as a finance major. He is a three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree and a three-year member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll with 2021 honors still to come. Haffner earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall 2020 semester and was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy given to college football's top scholar-athlete.

On the field, Haffner is a two-time second team All-Patriot League selection at linebacker. He was a team captain this past spring and led Lehigh with 28 tackles in three games, while adding three tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery. Haffner has 186 career tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two interceptions in 33 career games. He will be using his fifth year of eligibility for the Mountain Hawks this fall.

Dambach is also a finance major, who carries a 3.93 cumulative GPA. He has made Lehigh's Dean's List with a 3.60 GPA or better in each of his first six semesters, including a 4.0 last fall. Dambach is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Lehigh's leading receiver in the spring despite missing one of its three games, Dambach had eight receptions for 103 yards in two spring contests, averaging nearly 13 yards per catch. For his career, Dambach has 48 catches for 580 yards and three touchdowns in 22 games.

This marks the sixth consecutive season in which Lehigh had at least one football student-athlete earn Academic All-District recognition.
