LEWISBERRY, Pa. – The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up a solid day of racing against Bucknell on Saturday at Gifford Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry, Pa. The men completed five five-minute pieces while the women finished four four-minute pieces on the day.
Â
Lehigh's Men's Varsity Eight won two of the five pieces.
Â
"The men raced incredibly well," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "It was great to be able to line up against a fellow Patriot League opponent and have some really good, solid racing."
Â
Meanwhile, the Bison came out on top in each of the women's pieces – both the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight – but Conley saw several bright spots and learning opportunities.
Â
"On the women's side, Bucknell was the better crew on the day," said Conley. "They're always a Patriot League Championship contender. Our top boat, the Varsity Eight was able to stay in contact with them for all the pieces, which I think was a good stepping stone for us with it being early in the season. Our 2V was a little bit inconsistent on the day, but learned a lot from what they need to work on going forward.
Â
"Overall, it was a positive day for us despite the results."
Â
The Mountain Hawk men and women return to action next Saturday for a newly-scheduled regatta at Loyola.
